Forgiveness: From Stuck to Free

Learning the “4 Stations of Forgiveness” and how to move forward in letting go of past hurts

If you’re like many, you might have been taught that if you need to forgive… “just do it” or “let it go” (Don’t break in song here.)

Even in religious circles, people have been taught that they are commanded to forgive, but they are never told how to do it. Does this sound familiar to you? “Just forgive, put it behind you, move on, and forget about it.”

All too often, forgiveness is not an “on/off” switch. It doesn’t happen overnight. It can be a process. A process you might find very confusing and feel like a roller coaster. Feel like you did forgive once and then not so much the next day. And, then wondering if you did forgive or not…

Does this sound like you?

=

Have you noticed that some violations take longer to forgive than others?

=

Are you the one that needs to forgive or needs to be forgiven?

=

Do you know what steps you need to take to be forgiven?

=

Ever wondered how you are suppose to forgive someone who is not safe to be around or is now deceased?

=

Are you being challenged to forgive someone who is not trustworthy?

=

Ever wonder why your apology falls flat and is not accepted?

YOU’RE NOT ALONE

Here’s a story I want to share with you…

I worked with someone whom I really trusted. We did projects together, he always encouraged me and I felt as though I was a very close confidant to him. He led a very large organization and he placed me in a position of high influence, not only to the organization but also to him.

One day he came in and told me that he had been having an affair with his wife. He had been keeping this secret for several years. I had no idea.

He had done a masterful job of keeping me in the dark and even lying to my face. He had not only violated my trust but the trust of the entire organization. How he presented himself was not who he really was.

  • What was I to do?
  • Was I ever going to be able to trust him again?
  • How could I ever forgive him after such a betrayal?

I believe he was asking different questions…

Will my organization, my wife, and Wib ever be able to trust me again?

What do I need to do especially to rebuild trust?

What if they can’t ever trust me again?

I’VE BEEN WORKING WITH INDIVIDUALS AND COUPLES FOR OVER 40 YEARS

I’ve heard similar stories like this many times…

=

What is the process you need to follow to forgive?

=

Are there factors that will sabotage your ability to forgive or receive forgiveness?

=

Can you forgive someone and not trust them?

=

Do you need to apologize (or receive an apology) before forgiveness can take place?

=

Why is forgiving some violations harder than others?

=

What will happen if I choose not to forgive?

If you’re asking these questions too, then I want to invite you to join my virtual group coaching course, “Forgiveness: From Stuck to Free.”
